There are many Volunteer opportunities here at the Sanctuary and some are listed below under the Student Requirements.
Students can earn SSL hours but they have to sign a liability release form and have parental permission. They must be 16 years of age or older, will have to be interviewed and have a trial period to see if they are able to complete the required tasks, and also are a good fit with the Sanctuary.
Duties include:
1. Cat Crew Volunteers - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - must have Cat experience - tasks include but not limited to: cleaning and disinfecting litter boxes, vacuum and dust kitty rooms, feed and give fresh water, playtime and grooming.
2. Special Project - 1 to 3 days - 2 to 3 hours each day - moving pea gravel to muddy areas of Sanctuary grounds.
3. Morning Kennel Assistants - 7 days a week - 8:30-9am to 11am-Noon depending on number of dogs in kennel. Tasks include but not limited to: poop scooping yards, refilling outside water buckets, taking dogs outside for play and exercise,
feeding dogs, cleaning kennel area, vacuum, dusting, doing doggie laundry, washing dog dishes, making sure all dogs have fresh water and clean bedding, take dogs out for a 2nd play time and then put in kennels and pens with treats and close kennel area for afternoon rest period.
